For the first sketch series I am photographing my living room in my apartment. The sliding glass door that goes out onto the balcony is the only source of daylight in the common living space of the apartment. It faces northwest, so it receives mostly afternoon light. However, there is another balcony above it which blocks a significant amount of sunlight during the day, and the foliage blocks a good amount during the afternoon as well. This is good in the summer, because the sun doesn't contribute to the heat. And in the winter, when the sun is lower in the sky and the trees are bare of leaves, it receives more light.
